October in Myrtle Beach

October has been a busy month already for the Grand Strand, and we’re barely halfway into it! The first weekend was slammed with the fall Harley rally, the Myrtle Beach Triathlon, Market Common’s Oktoberfest, along with many other events like Taste of the Town. Bookings for these events began long before they did last year, a several months before, actually. A lot of things turned around from last year, from the number of bookings to the number of athletes and onlookers, all the numbers sky rocketed. Everything about Myrtle Beach has turned around since last year, and for the better!

The latter part of the month will in no way slow down either, especially with the Myrtle Beach Mini-Marathon coming up October 24th. This event alone is expected to bring in between five and seven thousand participants alone, not including supporters! Not to mention how many people have booked in advance for that mini-marathon. The Mini-Marathon won’t be the only race, that entire weekend is action packed with races and activities scheduled. Not to mention, it’s all for a great cause—the races will be benefiting the Grand Strand Humane Society, adding that touch of amusing fundraising. The mini marathon will be starting at Freestyle Music Park, down Robert Grissom Parkway and Broadway at the Beach, to the blue Atlantic, South on Ocean Blvd. to the new boardwalk, with the finish line being at Plyler Park. Not to mention how perfect the weather will be for runners, not too hot, but not too cold either! So make sure to register so you can enjoy all the activities like a coastal 5k race, doggie dash, benefiting GSHS, high heel run and of course the 13.1 mile marathon! Keep in mind this event is going to go on, rain or shine, so make sure to prepare!
